Peg and her husband, Steve, have lived in the Grand Valley since 1982. She is originally from a farming community in Western Nebraska where she grew up in a large family. She attended the University of Nebraska and graduated from there with a degree in dental hygiene.
She and Steve married right out of college, and after nearly 5 years in Wichita, Kansas, moved to Grand Junction where Steve’s family had settled in the 1970’s. Steve and Peg have three grown children and twelve grandchildren—who, if they’re old enough to walk, they’re old enough to ski!
She is currently actively involved at Cornerstone Christian Church, sits on the Board of Directors at The Joseph Center, and stays busy keeping up with those grandchildren! Steve and Peg love using their home at Powderhorn, which they have owned since 2016, as a gathering place for friends and family. They enjoy downhill and cross country skiing, fishing (especially ice fishing), hunting, and going on an occasional mushrooming adventure.
Deanne and her husband, Phil, grew up in Aspen, Colorado during the 50’s and 60’s. They enjoyed the many opportunities that a small mountain town offers. Hiking, fishing, riding horses, skiing and the wide open spaces of the valley gave them a wonderful playground to explore.
After they graduated from high school and then college, they both began teaching. Phil taught high school but especially loved coaching. Throughout the years, he coached all sports, but his favourite was basketball. Deanne taught in the elementary school at various grade levels. While she liked teaching all levels, her first love was teaching and reading to first graders.
After retirement, they built their home at Powder Ridge and have been here since 2008. Deanne still enjoys skiing and the Powderhorn Ski Area provides many hours of fun with family and friends. In the summer, they have the Grand Mesa to camp, fish and hike.
